Sept 30, 2023 - Chattanooga, TN

The Master Gardeners of Hamilton Co. host this exciting annual Fall Festival. At our booth you will find Mushrooms, and mushroom growing supplies * grow kits, plus over a dozen varieties of fig trees for sales included some that are rare.  Admission is $5 for ages 12 and older. Parking is Free. Lots of vendors, demonstrations, and learning opportunities!

Sept 16, 2023 - Ooltewah, TN

2 Angels hosted the 4th Annual Fig Frolic. This annual event is a gathering for those interested in the hobby of growing fig trees. A plethora of figtastic events are scheduled throughout the day including speakers, demonstrations, tours, prizes and more. Sept. 24, 2022 - Fall Gardening Festival - Chattanooga, TN

2 Angels will have a vendor booth at the 2021 Fall Garden Festival organized by the Master Gardeners of Hamilton County on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022. Tickets are $5, children under 12 are free. We will have both fig trees for sale, as well as, fresh mushrooms and supplies to grow your own mushrooms at home. There will be ongoing gardening demonstrations, plants and garden items for sale, and activities for the kids. Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer your gardening questions throughout the day.

Each year we host a gathering of fig growers for a day of learning, trading, and fellowship. The Fig Frolic is an annual event. Aug, 28, 2021 - 2nd Annual Fig Frolic - Chattanooga, TN

Anyone interested in the hobby of growing and collecting figs is invited to join us in Chattanooga, TN for the 2021 “Fig Frolic 2.0” on Saturday, Aug. 28th at 9:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. EDT. Everyone is welcome, from the expert fig fanatic to the fignorant. We’re getting figgy with it. Got a fig shirt or other ‘fig attire’? Let your fig-obsessed freak flag fly! You have found your people! There is no charge to attend, but pre-registration is important for logistical reasons. Oct 12-13, 2019 - 3rd Annual Georgia Mushroom Festival - Cave Spring, GA

Hear lots of speakers, participate in workshops, and take a look at the mushrooms and the unique art that regional growers, artisans, and artists have to offer. Several mycologists took visitors on a tour through the park to find and identify mushrooms and wild edible plants. including renowned mycologist Alan Rockefeller from the Counter Culture Lab in Oakland, CA, as well as Dr. Alan R. and Arleen Bessette, MA from Florida. General admission is $5 for 2 days.

AUG. 27, 2019- Powerpoint Presentation - Collegedale, TN

Presenting "The Fascinating Role of Kingdom Fungi" to the Greeen Thumb Garden Club on Aug. 27th, 2018 at 7:00 p.m.. This event is open to the general public free of charge and will be held at the Greenbrier Cove Morning Pointe Assisted Living Center. May 20, 2018 - Workshop: Build A Wine Cap Mushroom Bed - Ooltewah, TN

This super fun, hands-on workshop will begin with a class on mushroom ecology & lifecycle, and talk about the benefits of adding this delicious edible mushroom to your home landscaping or garden. Then we will actually build a Wine Cap bed together, so that you will feel confident in doing so at home later. You will be able to leave with everything you need to do so, including an instruction sheet, live Wine Cap mushroom spawn, and more. Pre-registration is required for this event.  You will receive printed class materials, personal instruction, and a 5-lb. block of live mushroom spawn to take home to build your own bed. Other materials will be available on site for purchase.

 

May 5-5, 2018 - The Great Appalachian Homesteading Conference - Cookeville, TN

2 Angels was a vendor and speaker. Registration is required for this 2-day conference, which included admission to the event and all workshops and presentations. Children ages 10 and under are FREE. Our presentation topic is "All About Mushrooms." We are going to teach you mushroom ecology and life cycle, and give you an overview of several different methods to add mushrooms to your homestead or landscape. This workshop will be presented TWICE. Saturday 5:00 pm in the classroom, and then again on Sunday at 4:00 pm in the arena. Note that all times are CDT.

 

April 27-28 Spring Plant and Garden Show - Cookeville, TN

The Master Gardeners of Cumberland Co invite you to their annual show and sale.  2 Angels will be a vendor, and we will teach a workshop Saturday 11:00 a.m. CDT on "Growing Mushrooms In Containers." We will have lots of mushrooms, mushroom logs, mushroom supplies, and some super cool new mushrooms items this year. Show Hours: Fri. 10 - 6; Sat 9-5

 

April 14-15, 2018 - Master Your Garden Expo - East Ridge, TN

This amazing 2-day expo is THE gardening event of the year. Hundreds of vendors and a full schedule of educational seminars taught by experts in their field. Admission is only $10. 2 Angels is delighted join this event again as a vendor and we have NEW mushroom items in store. Angel will present "The 4th Sister: Companion Planting With Mushrooms" on Sunday at 2:15.

 

April 7-8, 2018 - Crabtree Farms Spring Plant Sale & Festival - Chattanooga, TN

Angel Miller will teach a workshop at 11:30 am. We will begin with a presentation on mushroom life cycle, the benefits to your plants & soil, proper site selection, and care and harvest. 2 AM will have a booth throughout this exciting 2-day festival.  Admission to the event is free to the public.

 

Nov. 20, 2017 - Dirt Dabbers Garden Club- Chattanooga, TN

Angel Miller presented "The Fascinating Role of Kingdom Fungi" to the Dirt Dabber Garden Club. This presentation was open to club members only and not open to the public.

 

Sept. 30, 2017 - Double Workshop - Freedonia Mtn, TN

A rare double workshop on the role of fungi and how to start an outdoor mushroom bed. This event was a fundraiser for the Freedonia Mtn Community Center and was open to the public. Tickets were $5 at the door.

 

Sept. 16, 2017 - Crabtree Farms Fall Sale & Festival - Chattanooga, TN

We are delighted to again join in the fun at the Crabtree Fall Plant Sale & Fair. At 11:00 a.m. EDT, we will present, "Boost Your Fall Planting With Mushrooms." In nature, most plants have a fungal partner in the soil which benefits both parties. Learn several easy ways to boost your plants and build your soil by adding delicious edible mushrooms at planting time. Your new trees, shrubs, bulbs, and plants will thank you and some methods will also produce gourmet edible mushrooms for you to enjoy. Bring a pen and paper to take notes. We will also have a fully stocked vendor booth with lots of mushroom goodies and probably some fresh mushrooms, too. Admission is free to all. There are workshops all day long and so much more

 

June 9-10, 2017 - Bullseye Expo - Pigeon Forge, TN

We are presenting on Saturday at 4:00 pm (EDT) on "Growing Mushrooms in Outdoor Beds." We will also have a vendor booth filled with mushrooming supplies, so stop by to check it out and say hello. This expo will be held at the LeConte Center and there is plenty of parking. 

 

May 6, 2017 - The Great Appalachian Homesteading Conference - Crossville, TN

2 Angels will be a vendor and speaker. Registration is required for this conference, which included admission to the event and all workshops and presentations. We are presenting "How To Start An Outdoor Mushroom Bed" at 10 AM (CDT)

We are delighted to present "The Fascinating Role of Kingdom Fungi" to the Four Seasons Garden Club in Dayton, TN. The public is invited and light refreshments will be served. Everyone is welcome, and there is no charge to attend.

Angel Miller will present "The Fascinating Role of Kingdom Fungi"  at Cheeckwood in Nashville, TN, and we will bring a product table. February 25, 2017 - A Day Of Gardening, East Ridge, TN

Angel Miller will be a presenter at "A Day Of Gardening" organized by Tennessee Federation of Garden Clubs District 3. The event will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. She will present at 1:00 pm on "Adding mushrooms to the Landscape." The Powerpoint lecture will begin with a presentation on mushroom life cycle, the benefits to your plants & soil from adding fungi to the landscape, proper site selection, harvesting,  cooking, and care & maintenance. Tickets are $25 available at the door. and include lunch and admission to all lectures and workshops that day

Jan. 28, 2017 -   Build A Shiitake Log Workshop,  Chattanooga, TN

We were pleased to partner with Crabtree Farms to bring you this fun and informative workshop. Participants learned about the life cycle of the Shiitake mushroom, and then inoculated their very own log to take home and grow mushrooms for many years to come. Oct. 18, 2016 - Fall Craft Expo & Workshops, Dunlap, TN

An annual event of the Sequatchie County Agricultural Extension Office. 2 Angels Mushrooms Farm will host a vendor booth and Angel will speak on various methods for intercropping mushrooms and vegetables. Presentation: The 4th Sister-Companion Planting Mushrooms & Veggies

 

Oct. 16, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. - Growing Mushrooms at Home, Townsend, TN

The Lily Barn located in the beautiful Smokie Mountains hosted this fun and informative workshop covering several methods for growing mushrooms outdoors.

Sept. 24, 2016 - Mid-South Homesteading Conference, Memphis, TN

2 Angels was a guest speaker and vendor at this exciting conference. We spoke on "Growing Native Perennial Mushrooms." The seminar covers the Wine Cap and the Purple Blewitt mushrooms. July 23, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. - Straw Bale Mushroom Gardening, Cleveland, TN

This workshop is offered in partnership with Beaty Hardware in Cleveland, TN.  The day begins with a class on the ecology and life cycle of the Pink Flamingo mushroom, a delicious heat-loving tropical species with a unique bacony/ham-like flavor. We will discuss the process to inoculate and grow this mushroom outdoors on a bale of straw, and then we will actually inoculate a bale in class. Materials to do this project at your own home will be available at the class.

 

June 16, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. - Filming The Tennessee Gardener TV Program

Host Troy B. Marden interviews Angel Miller for a segment of the "Volunteer Gardener."  The episode is expected to air on PBS stations across Tennessee in late July or early August. Watch you local PBS listings or join our email list for viewing information.

May 14, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. - Workshop: Adding Mushrooms To The Garden

This super fun, hands-on workshop begins with a class on mushroom ecology & life cycle, and the benefits of adding these delicious edible mushrooms to your garden. Then we will actually inoculate a section of the garden together as a group, so that you will feel confident in doing so at home later. You will leave with the knowledge and experience you need to do so at your own home, as well as a 5 lb bag of live Almond Portobello mushroom spawn (a $35 value) and printed instructions.

 

April 24, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. – Workshop: Build A Shiitake Log

This will be a hands-on workshop, in which you will inoculate a log will live Shiitake mushroom mycelium, and then take it home to grow complete with printed instructions. Your log should produce delicious Shiitake mushrooms for you for years to come in the spring and fall when weather conditions are right. April 16-17, 2016 – Crabtree Farm Plant Festival, Chattanooga, TN

Afterward, as a group, we will build a perennial mushroom bed together with live Wine Cap mushroom spawn. 2 AM will have a booth throughout this exciting 2-day festival with mushroom logs, mushroom spawn & instructions, dried mushrooms, and much more. April 9-10, 2016 Master Your Garden Expo - East Ridge, TN

2 Angels Mushroom Farm will once again be a guest speaker & vendor at the 2016 Master Your Garden Expo hosted by the Master Gardeners of Hamilton County inside the Arena at Camp Jordan Park in East Ridge, TN. Angel will be speaking on "Intercropping Mushrooms With Veggies" on Sunday at 3:45 p.m. in Room A. Attendees will learn 3 different ways to add gourmet mushrooms as annuals in the garden.. Saturday 10:00 am - 6:00 pm & Sunday 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

February 27, 2016 - Presentation: The Fascinating Role of Kingdom Fungi
Angle Miller will be a presenter at "A Day Of Gardening" organized by the Tennessee Federation of Garden Clubs District 3. The event will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. "The Fascinating Role of Kingdom Fungi" is a look inside the seldom noticed role of the fungus using Powerpoint. This visual exploration of the world of fungi will demonstrate why fungi is taxonomically listed as a separate kingdom, illustrate fungus's complex role in the soil web as an important decomposer, and various ways that fungi are beneficial to humanity. Tickets are $25 available at the door, and include lunch.

 

February 18, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. - Presentation: The Fascinating Role of Kingdom Fungi

The Master Gardeners of Hamilton County invite you to join them for their February meeting with guest speaker, Angel Miller. Angel Miller will be speaking at the April 2015 meeting of the Sierra Club in Chattanooga, TN. She will discuss how to grow edible mushrooms at home, such as Wine Caps, Shiitake, Oyster, Lions Mane, and more by adding them to your landscaping. Also presenting will be Shawn Schuster, of White Ivy Farm on Small-Scale Egg Production. There is no charge to attend.

 

April 11 - 12, 2015 10:00 a.m - 6:00 p.m. - Master Your Garden Expo

Camp Jordan Arena - East Ridge, TN

Angel Miller will be speaking on Saturday at 10:30 a.m., and 2 Angels Mushroom Farm will have a vendor booth at the 3rd annual "Master Your Garden Expo" held at the Camp Jordan Arena in East Ridge, TN by Hamilton County Master Gardeners. This 2-day events features, lectures, vendors, demonstrations, Experts Q&A table, Children's activity area, and more. Admission is $5 at the door and is good for both days. Angel will be a featured speaker at one of the educational lectures on Saturday 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Her topic will be "Soil Enrichment By Adding Edible Mushrooms."


March 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. - Introduction To Wild Mushroom Hunting

Green|Spaces - Chattanooga, TN

Have you ever found a wild mushroom and wish you could identify it? Correct identification of wild mushrooms often requires years of study, but this class can help you get started on a journey of learning. Angel Miller will share an overhead PowerPoint presentation that will introduce you to the basics of foraging for wild mushrooms. We discuss how to get started learning about mushrooms, what items you will need in the field, how to take a spore print, some do's and don'ts, and a pictorial overview of some of the poisonous and edible mushrooms commonly found in our region using photos we have taken locally.  You will receive a printed outline from the class which includes a bibliography of recommended guide books.

The Chattanooga Newcomers Club will host 2 Angels Mushroom Farm as the keynote speaker at their January luncheon meeting.  Lunch is at 11:30 a.m. Cost is $15. Reservations must be made by Sunday, January 11 at 4 pm.

 

Nov. 14, 2014 at 3:30 p.m. - Class: Mushroom Cooking Skills 101
Ooltewah Farmers Market - Ooltewah, TN

2 Angels Mushroom Farm will demonstrate the basic skills of cooking with several different types of gourmet mushrooms. From delicate oyster mushrooms, to firm meaty mushrooms like Shiitake and Chicken of the Woods, each variety has different cooking requirements. If your mushrooms turn out 'rubbery' then this class will help you correct that and cook mouthwatering mushrooms for use in a multitude of dishes. Angel will show you each type of mushroom, tell you its characteristics, and its cooking requirements. She will be cooking them during the class so you can taste them. Angel will also share her low-cost secret for making a basic mushroom stock (Used as a base in many recipes) from kitchen scraps. You will receive a free copy of her recipe to take home, too. This is a great opportunity to see and taste several different types of gourmet mushrooms, and learn directly from the farmer how to make the most of them.

 

Oct. 11, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. - Shiitake Log Workshop
Ooltewah Nursery & Landscape Co. - 25th Anniversary Celebration

You will learn how to inoculate a log to produce gourmet Shiitake mushrooms. This will be a hands-on workshop, in which you will inoculate a log, and then take it home to grow. It should produce delicious Shiitake mushrooms for you for years to come in the spring and fall when weather conditions are right. Your registration fee covers instruction and all materials you will need.
